Hinckley Fire Protection District Website

The Hinckley Fire District (HFD) is located in Southern DeKalb County, in north-central Illinois. It protects about 2,500 citizens, residing in approximately 64 square miles, including all of Squaw Grove Township, most of the southern half of Pierce Township and the Village of Hinckley. HFD responds to an average of 200 emergency calls per year, with about 140 of those being requests for an ambulance. They have an Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating of 5 within the Village limits, and 9 in the surrounding rural area.  They provide Advanced Life Support treatment and transport through their EMS service.

The Hinckley Fire District is a separate entity from the Village of Hinckley. It is governed by a Board of Trustees, appointed by the County Board.

Beware of Phone Solicitations!

Residents of the Hinckley Fire District have reported receiving phone calls seeking donations for a "retired & disabled firefighters fund" of some kind.  The people seeking these donations indicated that some of the donations are sent to the Hinckley Fire District.
The Hinckley Fire District does NOT, and has NOT, ever solicited donations over the phone.  We are not affiliated with and do not receive funds from any organization that conducts phone solicitation.

Thinking of Demolition?

If you've recently purchased a piece of property and would like to demolish a building on it, consider letting the Fire Department train in it first. WE DON'T HAVE TO BURN THE BUILDING DOWN TO BENEFIT FROM TRAINING IN AN OLD STRUCTURE.

Live fire training is typically conducted in these buildings, with strictest adherence to safety standards. There is no liability for the owners of these structures to firefighters who train in them.

Firefighters can train in search and rescue, ventilation, forcible entry and firefighter survival without burning the building.
